Dog walks near Bridge Street
- Maitai River walkway — a flat riverside path a few minutes from the house, lovely for a morning or evening walk.
- Botanical Reserve & Centre of New Zealand walk — about 5 minutes' walk to the reserve, then a climb to the lookout over the city and Tasman Bay.
- Maitai Valley — riverside walks a few minutes' drive up the valley.

Dogs aren't allowed in Abel Tasman National Park, which is managed by the Department of Conservation (DOC). If you're planning a water taxi or kayak day in the park, you'll need to leave your dog at home or arrange a sitter.
